Last week after Khaled announced via Twitter that he officially joined the Cash Money family, I spoke to him in regards to his new situation. Khaled went onto say that the deal had unofficially been on the table for years and that it was all about the right timing. Apparently, his relationship with CMR dates back to when Birdman was slinging CDS and tapes from his trunk.
“It’s definitely official, and I’m just excited about the new deal with Cash Money. Shout to Birdman, Slim. And free Weezy.” Khaled told VIBE. “You know, I’ve always been a Cash Money member, not officially but I’ve been a fan forever.”
“Birdman always loved my work and passion. We’ve known each other for years, and he’s always told me when you fulfill your contract with E1 you always got a home over here,” Khaled explained. “I was going to sign myself, but I called Birdman and he said ‘let’s get the deal done in an hour.’ He just wanted to make it happen.”
