VIBE & Onyx Collective Cover Launch Party Honoring Questlove At ‘Sundance 2025’
On Friday January 24th, VIBE and Onyx Collective hosted an unforgettable ‘Cover Launch Party’ at the exclusive Disney House in Park City, Utah, during the renowned Sundance Film Festival. The event celebrated the legendary musician, producer, and director Questlove, who graced the cover of VIBE’s latest issue, and honored his groundbreaking documentary “SLY LIVES,” which premiered at Sundance.
The invite-only gathering brought together the Sly family, industry leaders, and prominent figures from the film and television community for an evening brimming with music, creativity, and camaraderie. Hosted in partnership with Onyx Collective, the celebration spotlighted Questlove’s exceptional contributions to both music and film, underscoring the dynamic intersection of the two industries.
The energy was electric as Questlove himself curated the night’s soundtrack with an epic DJ set, keeping the crowd dancing into the night. DJ D-Nice and actors Jimmy Akingbola, Mack Wilds, and Makai Curtis added to the star-studded atmosphere, showing their support for the multi-talented artist.
Guests enjoyed delectable small bites and specialty cocktails at an open bar, all while mingling with some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names including Bun B, Jennifer Freeman, Lenny S, Tan France, Khleo Thomas, Kalan Allen, Etienne Maurice, and Sly Stone’s daughter Novena Caramel Sly.
A standout feature of the event was the live open mic recording studio, where attendees had the unique opportunity to record their own vinyl on an instrumental from the “SLY LIVES!” soundtrack.
